What is MiDAS?
MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme. It is a programme developed to enhance the driving and passenger awareness skills of the many individuals who drive minibuses in the course of their work or as volunteers.
MiDAS is designed to make appropriate assessment, training and accreditation available to minibus drivers.
Who can participate in MiDAS?
Any voluntary organisation as well as schools, colleges and universities can join MiDAS. Membership of MiDAS is free.
How does it benefit my organisation?
A MiDAS training will give your drivers skills over and above those demanded by the ordinary driving test in order that the driver can move passengers with the minimum of risk to both themselves and their passengers.
From your organisations point of view it will provide a duty of care that the organisation has taken reasonable precautions when arranging and providing transport for its passengers.
Other benefits are:
- Enhanced passenger safety and comfort
- Increased driver confidence
- Reduced stress on the driver
- Potential reduction on insurance costs
- Reduced running costs
- A better image for the organisation
How long does the course last?
The course for standard minibuses will take approx 4 hours for one delegate, to a full day for a maximun of three delegates.
Accessible training will take another half day
Training is done in your minibus and our trainers will come to your premisis.
